First had this on tap at the brewery some time a few years ago right after they opened and before they started distributing cans, but I don't remember it being quite this strong, so maybe it was an earlier/not-imperial version. Anyway, this came with high recommendations from a dude at a beer store I frequent, so let's hope it's good! I've been big into the peanut butter stout scene lately and definitely have my favorites. Hope Pipe Dream can make a new entry onto that list.

Pours a deep, cola-brown color with a thin ring of mocha foam that immediately dissipates to just about nothing on top of this brew. It's a got a very, very slight bit of retention with no lace to speak of. On top of that, the fact that it's not pitch-black is kind of a let-down, honestly. Not the best first impression.

Nose is peanut butter cup, straight up... but there's a little bit of brine or minerality underneath, with some light notes of dark fruit and caramel. Slight roastiness mostly covered up by the oily peanut element that gives off a prevailing slickness and crowds out almost everything else. Also has an almost umami "sweatiness" to it. Hmm, this isn't really hitting the mark for me at all.

Flavor profile is somewhat messy too. It's got a good hit of fairly-authentic peanut butter, which I appreciate, but the other flavors are not supportive. There's a decent hit of strong ethanol alongside some bitter baker's chocolate, plum and toffee with some acrid roasted coffee just kinda sitting around on the tongue. Too sweet and slick in the finish with a cardboard-like flatness in the mid-palate. Absolutely no carbonation, either, which makes this a chore to drink. Just has a relentless cherry/plum fruitiness atop what should by all accounts be a decent chocolate-infused peanut stout. There's no need for this to be 10%, as several breweries have perfected much more flavorful and well-integrated versions of this in a sub-9% ABV package. Not going to finish my can. I'm surprised at the great reviews of this one, honestly. Pipe Dream is yet another batchy, inconsistent, "wacky" brewery with better ideas than execution in the NH area. Oh well.

Pours black with almost no head. Fortunately this is quickly forgotten once a quick whiff has been had - wow, what an incredible blend of sweet chocolate and peanut butter they've managed to embody here. Flavors are maybe too diverse to follow that aroma exactly - good roasted notes mixed with nut and cocoa and quite sweet. Very smooth sipping and relatively clean finish without much hint of the abv. Well done.

Thanks Bierman9.
Two cans both poured into snifters.
The appearance was a nice mostly thick dark brown color with a small off white to slightly tan foamy head softly gliding off. No lace in both cans.
The aroma had an absolutely amazing blend of sweet to salty peanut butter flowing into subtle milk chocolate and sweet coffee notes. Light dark chocolate and some vanilla ever so slight in the backbone.
The flavor yields towards the peanut butter sweet and salty character. Then evenly disperses on into main course of taste between chocolate, coffee and peanut butter. Good sturdy aftertaste of penut butter and milk chocolate.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. ABV felt on par and perhaps may have caused some of those "feels" I tend to expect from an imperial stout. But still, no alcoholic/boozy distracting character. Peanut buttery and chocolatey finish with a touch of salt.
Overall, what an absolutely wonderful authentic peanut butter stout. Personal whale slain and extremely appreciative to a fine New Hampshirite for this stellar beer!

S - Wonderful intense chocolate and peanut butter aroma.

T - Chocolate, peanut butter, and cream from start to finish with a lingering chocolate peanut butter finish.

O - This is a fantastic Imperial Stout, hands down! Recommended.

Poured out as a jet black color with a this brown head on top. The smell of this one was very peanut buttery with notes of chocolate in there as well. The taste has a good amount of chocolatey peanut butter but not quite as potent as it comes in on the nose. The feel of the beer is rich with a nice silkiness to it. Overall it's a solid dessert beer to say the least! Worth trying!

Poured slightly chilled into my 16 Great Divide Snulip Glass, not sure when it was canned but I know recently. Pours a viscous near pitch black with a 2 plus finger brown head that nice thin wisps of lace. 4.25

Smell is what you expect peanut butter, chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of biscuity grain. 4.75

Taste follows exactly what it was brewed for, I would love to eat a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup with this, the nail it. 4.75

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, plenty of life, maybe a little dry, and at 9.4% this drinks as easy as any stout on earth. 4.75

Overall this brewery has been a let down with NEIPA for me so far, but this is a really well put together and deliscious beer. 4.5

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass.

The pour is pitch black, with half a finger of tan head that dissipates almost instantly. Leaves no lacing as it settles into an effervescent ring.

Can we talk about the aroma here for just a moment? Waves of fudge and peanut butter molest my nostrils before some vanilla wafers and dark roasted malts come through. There's a faint hint of chocolate animal crackers on the back end. This aroma is making me fat. Well, fatter.

The taste is all about 'dat fudge. So much rich, decadent chocolate with a more restrained peanut butter note. Very malty with a slight roasted character on the finish.

The feel is medium-full bodied with low carbonation. Very creamy and smooth. The alcohol is practically non-existent. A bit light bodied for the style but otherwise perfect.

Overall, an outstanding Imperial Stout that brings everything it promises and then some. I was not a fan of Pipe Dream when they first opened but if they keep making beer like this they'll become a regular stop for me. Very well done.

Awesome I got to grab this in a trade. Smell is out of this world. It literally smells like a Reese cup. No other way to describe it. Tons of chocolate and peanut butter on the nose. I wanted a little more from the taste, as the PB is there, but a little muted. Overall, it’s a solid stout and I’m glad I got to find out about this brewery.

One of the best tasting beers I've had in years, poured on nitro, creamy, great texture, heavy peanut butter aroma, hints of chocolate. This is the best PB beer Ive had and a top 10 for me personally. You can also get it with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream, just adds to it.

On nitro at the source today. Creamy smooth chocolate and peanut butter against a lightly roasty stout base. This one was pretty damn tasty, If I’d had more time I might have gotten a full pour of this.
