I needed to look up Grisette when adding this beer because I was unfamiliar with the term. It was described as a type of "farmhouse ale" for miners. Since this was missing farmhouse/Saison yeast bite I placed this in the bière de champagne category.
Light gold color with an apparent chill haze. Small, lasting head but little lace, just a few lingering spots.
The smell has a light touch of candy yet seems to be dry. I'm reminded of Circus Peanuts (Marshmallows) without the fake orange.
Thin bodied and highly carbonated, this beer is light but with lots of flavors. The pale malt is delicate but lasting. Initially, like the smell, one would expect sweetness but it never comes. The finish is bone dry and needs very little hop for bitterness. The aftertaste lingers a long time from that bitterness leaving a lip-puckering arid feeling.
