amazing stuff here, biere de garde with cold brewed coffee, ideal base beer for a flavorful modern lighter roast coffee like this, impressively well executed overall, but the base beer is amazing too, its malt driven, mature in a cool way, fermentation forward but subtle, and packed with layers of honey and toffee and earthy malt and hazelnut, the coffee feeds into that so well, dry cocoa, almond, amaretto, and light smoke, great complexity to both the malt bill and the coffee itself, it seems equally flavored by both, but this is somehow light to drink for what it is, so smooth, somewhat lightly carbonated which lets it move at its own pace, and oddly not that sweet for the grain richness behind it all. the coffee is so smart in here, its very high quality and it brings the biere de garde to life i think. its sort of saison-esque on the ferment but really mild, faint tang and really mellow acidity right on the swallow which dries it some too. overall this is sensationally good, super drinkable and interesting from top to bottom, and this is exactly this sort of thing i came here for, so awesome to drink it on the grounds of their amazing property. this was among my favorites we had, and thats really saying something, they are all great! this is one of the best takes on the style ive ever had, the coffee is just made for it!
