hazy ipa here done with heady honey and citra and amarillo hops, a cool beer, delicious even, canned and ready to rock, somewhat raw and unrefined, but delicious at the same time, i assume freshness matters extra here, and fortunately we scored the four pack at the brewery, probably means we nailed it. it has a high white head in the glass but its not beautiful beer, a little more murky than i look for, and there is quite a bit of suspended sediment here. pale yellow colored and heavy looking. it smells great though, waxy and floral from the honey, with distinct citra hops leading the way, lemongrass and meyer lemon and something just a little piquant and mouthwatering, not at all sweet, and kind of starchy rather than malty, fresh as can be. the flavor is citra first too but the honey is obvious and i get some melon and some spice notes from the amarillo, not to mention a little bitterness on the finish that balances the honey, which seems to ramp up from start to finish, the climax here is late, and its curiously dry at that moment, really good. but i do find this heavy and a little messy, more grain weight than i need, more yeast character without a real purpose to it too. a little weedy dankness, grassy summery herbal character as well, and quite a lot of the honey coming through. lots to like about this, but its also not as cleaned up as id like it to be, and this would be better being a little lighter on haze and body. still a treat to drink, and it was rad to be able to check them out last week, such a sick brewery!

16oz can
Pours 3 massive finger of fluffy white head into my Willi glass. Retention is very good. Initial lacing looks sticky. Body is orange juice. Looks pretty nice so far.
Not really getting much at all on the nose. Like, maybe some citrus? Some light malt, maybe some wheat? Maybe the smallest sweetness, but smells pretty dry overall. Not getting any honey or Belgian characteristics. Not very impressed.
A little more going on with the flavor, but still not really jumping out at me. Tangerine, a tiny bit of malt, smallest bit of pine in the finish. Tropical flavors peak out a little bit as it warms. It’s subtle, which I guess is fine for some, but I think it’s assumed this would have a lot more going on. Again, no honey or Belgian qualities. Underwhelming.
Carbonation is high, which makes it hard to really feel much else body wise, drinks pretty effervescent and I guess light? Feels on the drier side, minimal sweetness. Bitterness is medium-low. Mouthfeel is fine I suppose? This carbonation would make more sense if there were actually Belgian qualities here.
Drinkabiltiy is fine, nothing offensive here.
Appearance turned out pretty good, lacing was solid for the most part.
Really not much to talk about here, this is only a month old, so I don’t really know what the issue is. Overall pretty lackluster.
