My first beer ever at this new brewery that opened in the spring of last year. Served on-tap in a standard pint glass, this beer draws a fairly clear, but just slightly cloudy, medium Amber color with a nice white head that an inch thick when first served. Settles to a thin to medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass with bits of swirls of foam clusters here and there in the beer's surface. Not much lacing. Aromas of some toasted, bready malts with hints of caramel sweetness with an earthy, slightly floral bitterness. The taste is pretty much the same, with a somewhat toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness that gives way to an earthy, somewhat floral hop bitterness. Good balance of flavors, but the bitterness certainly lingers on my palate after each sip. Has a crisp, slightly prickly, yet smooth and frothy, medium bodies mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a smooth clean finish. A good representation of the style.
