Goodbeer Faucets

So...I had heard of this place, and it just happened to be a convenient stop for me on the way back to my hotel from somewhere. I was expecting a relatively small bar focused on Japanese craft.

For the area, it's a large bar. And it focuses on Australian craft. At least, that was 90% of the taps, cans, and bottles when I visited.

All right, that's fine. Not what I was looking for, but I can roll with it.

I talked with a server / employee of some sort, he looked through their fridge with me and gave me advice. His English was pretty good (which is handy, because my Japanese is terrible to nonexistent).

I ended up sitting at the bar next to an off-duty employee, whose English was also pretty good.

I enjoyed my stop, although it wasn't the Japanese craft beer I was looking for. It's certainly a worthwhile craft beer stop.

Worth a visit if you're in Shibuya. 2nd floor establishment on a busy street. Bigger than most places and 40 taps. We ended up here after a short walk from the pride parade route.

 

The fact that this place is in Japan makes it way better than it probably would be if you stuck it in a major city here in the U.S. That being said, these people are making big strides in bringing good craft beer to Japan. Knowledgeable staff, english speaking, good beer, and a great vibe. At about $6 a beer you're getting a decent (over there any way) deal on craft beer. If I make it back to Tokyo any time soon, I'll be headed back here for sure.
