It’s a bit of a mind bender how a little brewery that started 25 years ago in a basement in downtown Blanco could grow into the brewery that we are today. With that spirit as our inspiration, we decided to create a beer as surreal as it is satisfying, just like our 25th Anniversary itself. This golden stout starts with classic American 2-row barley, a dose of Munich malt for a rich toasty note, and some flaked oats to add a silky mouthfeel. From there, we take the beer in a new direction, and that’s where the mind-bending begins. Unlike a traditional stout, which is typically brewed using roasted malt, we opt for natural additions, like coffee beans and cacao nibs, that mimic these dark chocolate and espresso flavors that traditionally come from grains. In the end, you’re left with a truly trippy beer that has the appearance of a perfect summer sipper and all the complexity of a dark velvety stout.

Found this beer at a Houston Total Wine store.
Dubbed a golden stout on the bottle, this beer is a pleasant oddity. Poured into a tulip glass. Orangish golden yellow yellow with a magnificent creamy, fluffy white head and great curtain lacing. Fruity vanilla and milk chocolate smell and taste. Mocha with a twist of lemon. Smooth rich feel. Very enjoyable beer!

pours a fairly clear, deep golden body with a billowing chalk white froth head that has moderately high retention and leaves heavy slathers of thin-bubbled sticky lacing behind as it settles to a patchy cap with defined halo; there are quite a few floaters at the end
the aroma is bright roasted coffee, toffee, and cocoa
the taste is a malt bomb that lands bright and roasted up front, then hits a soft bready toffee malt mid before getting a hoppy earthy dry finisher. the cocoa is present, but subdued, hanging out nice and easy with the "blonde roast" coffee notes. dark stone fruit is alluded to, and I can get a little bit of leather and musty nooks in there towards the end.
the mouthfeel is mid-to-hi carbonation and medium-light bodied, running crisp and grainy before finishing neat and dry, leaving an earthy, near-herbal, bittersweet aftertaste
overall:
it's not too complicated, but it's not dumbed down either. it's a very well crafted brew that brings a lot of interesting characters to the table. it's got the roasted notes down, while also switching it up from the expected smooth/thick mouthfeel to a more crisp-to-hopped-up-dry styled combo, which for me really highlighted the more coffee-n-toffee styled notes thanks to contrast. in fact, the more I sit and sip on this one, the more it grows on me - much like the last decade+ of knowing this brewery. that being said, it's a solid rustic feeling ale that brings plenty of malt and coffee, and balances it with earthy hops. the bottle and cap art are a killer bonus.

Pour is pale with some floaties. White head fades to a ring around the glass
Nose is light coffee, hint of chocolate, toasted malt, bready malt
Taste is subtle blend of coffee, chocolate, toasted malt, bready malt, minimal bitterness. lingering cracker malt character
