We blended 2020 Kriek, our spontaneously-fermented cherry beer, with this year’s Rauchdoppelbock.

Draft pour on 4/20 for Dovetail's annual "Thank You For Smoking" event. Served in an XO teku glass, half pour. This was interesting to try, though a small sample was plenty. Dark brown with reddish edges, thin layer of foam and spotty lace.
Cherry and chocolate aroma, not much smoke. The acidity drives it, and pushes any nuanced smoke into the background. Tart with fairly sharp acid, big malt from the RDB, lingering dark cherry traces. Medium bodied, softer carb level. Overall it was a creative blend, but a touch more Rauch Doppel may have tamed the acid a little more. Still I applaud the creativity, and hope they continue releasing new experimental blends like this one.
