Officially blended and kegged for Dovetail's annual "Thank You For Smoking" event on 4/20/22. This is a 50/50 blend of Lager & Rauchbier that was created by brewmaster Hagen Dost's father, Hagen Sr. aka "Hagen Big". It's been an off-menu blend for years, whenever Rauchbier is in season.
Lighter shade of amber brown with an inch of foam on the surface. Lasting head and spotty lacing. Aroma of mild smoke and biscuity malt, some lager yeast present.
Taste is lighty smoky with a toasted malt middle, biscuits, toast, hint of chocolate. Medium to light bodied, sort of similar to an amber ale. Supple carbonation, very easy drinking.
While Dovetail's Rauchbier is probably the most drinkable Rauchbier i've ever had, Hagen Big takes the effortless drinkability a step further. Cheers to Hagen Jr. & Hagen Sr.!
