Bright golden orange, a finger of foam with spotty lace. Settles to a thin ring with patchy surface skim.
Aroma is barrel forward but still balanced. Citrus acidity, vanilla, wet wood funk.
Bright and citrusy, lemon and grapefruit, woody undercurrent, less overt bourbon, mature complexity.
Medium body, supple carb, rounded edges. The acidity is moderate and manageable.
Overall this is a nice barrel variant, subtle and tasty. Easy to sip over an hour or so, it's a smooth drinker. Anyone expecting a whiskey sour may be disappointed. Instead, expect a subtle influence from the Blanton's barrel, well balanced and not a steamroller.
