From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This solid little brew pours a deep
obsidian with a moderate had of tan foam that settles to a thin ring, thin
dusty layer, and sports some light lacing. Nose of dark coffee, char, brulee,
coconut cream, and vanilla amongst dark barkers chocolate. Flavors hit the
mark with dark bakers chocolate, char, brulee, coconut cream, vanilla, and
rich dark coffee. Mouth feel is full, smooth, coating, rich, moderately warming,
and finishing with a nice bitter malt note.
Overall, a dessert brew that is not cloying or overly sweet. More meat and tater
than a sugar bomb. Dug this one surprisingly, many dessert brews are just a
load of diabetus.....yeah....got them sugars. But this one is well rounded and
don't make me want to rush out and buy oatmeal.....while ridding a horse....
and wearing a cowboy hat. Just sayin!
Cheers

16 ounce can, M 5 e stamped on the bottom, still have no idea what those Fat Orange Cat stamps are supposed to mean or if they're even dating stamps at all. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around a little while. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, marshmallows, vanilla and some coffee. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some coconut, dark bread and some burnt/charred malt flavors too. All the flavors are pretty well balanced with no one flavor overpowering the others. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one a lot, thought it was a good overall tasty imperial stout!

Almost jet black in color with no head to speak of. The nose mingles chocolate, vanilla and certainly marshmallow. I did not detect coffee. That followed upon initial tasting. This stout is at the onset, very much a dessert beer, emphasizing marshmallow flavor above all others. As the beer warms, sweetness is replaced by tannic bitterness as coffee flavor rises to the surface and dominates. On further warming, booziness comes forward to a degree that makes it less enjoyable. The first two stages work; the last stage not so much.

L: Pours near-black, thick motor oil. Forms a moderate hickory head that is slow to fade. Nice ring of consistent lacing around edge of snifter, with a thin film of tan retention. Held to the light, this beer has an opaque, fudge-like complexion.
S: Pleasant aromas. Vanilla, malt, dark chocolate, coffee beans, brown sugar, hint of cinnamon and lactose.
T: A shot of medium-roast coffee, baker's chocolate, vanilla, and lactose at the onset. Good levels of roasted malts, a hint of marshmallow and burnt sugar, cinnamon, and hazelnut. Finishes with lactose sweetness mixed with some boozy heat.
F: Full-bodied, rich and thick MF. Soft and creamy, basically a liquid dessert. Light- to moderate-carbonation.
O: More sweet than bitter, characteristic of a dessert beer. Thick, rich brew with sweet, inviting aromas and superb lacing and retention after the pour. Real solid stout base of dark chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee; adds some lactose and sweetness, yet avoids being cloying. Terrific mouthfeel. No weak spots.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Sweet aroma of caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is sweet chocolate and marshmallow. Thick and creamy.

nice pick by my wife here, really these guys do these big flavored stouts about as well as anyone, and this was a real fun one to share last night over some hotly contested mario kart n64 style. motor oil thick, insanely viscous, and totally black. looks still at first when we pour it but a little quarter inch of dark brown bubbles pushes up through all the body to form a little cap on this, looks massive but also really refined, wow! the nose here is cool because as much as the coffee and coconut stand out, its also still stout first to me, not all that sweet, with heavy roast, dark chocolate, and of course the coffee, which hits like a fresh pulled shot of good espresso, quite darkly roasted, but slightly nutty too. the coconut seems toasted and has some depth and light sweetness to it, very compatible with the coffee. the marshmallow is weird, not my favorite beer ingredient despite its recent popularity, but its not distastefully done in this, light vanilla and balancing sweet is all, almost needed against all this dark malt. the flavor is coffee first, with the grain layers coming in after, graham cracker, now milk chocolate, hazelnut nuance, and some caramel character, this tastes and feels like it was boiled down forever. the alcohol is a little hot, but it seems to pull the coconut up, giving it almost a dark rum drink complexion to me, but i think its cool that this isnt barrel aged, no need for that in here, its big and smooth and in some ways mellow enough already, despite its enormity. i love how long i taste it, how it coats the palate, but how it stays kind of bitter from the coffee. i could also swear there is chocolate in this. a little hot, a little sweet, throat coating, impossibly dense really, but quite dialed in for what it is, especially in a style space that can be a little kitchen sinky. super tasty, warms up well, and was a wonderful last beer of the night. ill be quicker to buy the next big stout i see from these guys...

Tis the season for a style I rarely drink anymore, particularly at this elevated an ABV.
But Fat Orange Cat did a nice job with this AIS, balanced and a well-concealed ABV. Only a tad of what I call the "English old ale stale" at the end and it actually helps balance the sweetness.
For my micro-review for FOC, they seem interesting; but unfortunately their website is under-developed and their
FB and Instagram pages got swiped somehow. Making Roll Me One an even more interesting brewing success, FOC makes their money as a purveyor of a variety of IPAs... which I also don't drink much of being a malt-head. So the best thing I know about FOC is they are part of the Twelve Percent Collaborative which innovatively helps with distribution and shares, I presume, advice and recipes. Hence, High Overall Hugs. Cheers !
