XPA with Citra, Galaxy, HBC 1019. A collaboration with Firestone Walker and Haas Hops
We've been sourcing our Citra, Galaxy, and occasionally Mosaic from Haas for years, and being among the small breweries they partner with is a total honor. Shoutout to Barbara and Amaey—the ultimate dynamic duo behind some of the best hops in the world! Our recent epic journey to the Southern Hemisphere hop harvest in Australia, courtesy of Haas Hops, allowed us to connect with the farmers, growers, breeders, and brokers behind these amazing hops.
On top of that, we had the privilege of bonding with Matt Brynildson, the Brewmaster of Firestone Walker, during our Aussie hop adventure. Matt's influence on American craft beer is undeniable, and his progressive hoppy beer program has shaped the industry for the past 30 years.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces quite nicely.
S: Fairly grassy, crackery malt, a light mix of citrus zest, tropical and stone fruit tries to poke through.
T: Grassy, citrus zest, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and a little tangerine, soft coconut, tropical and stone fruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, passion fruit, and a hint of melon, crackery malt, and a fairly dry finish.
M: Light body, moderate carbonation, somewhat soft and a little chewy.
O: I can definitely feel Matt Brynildson's influence on this one. Light, bright, dry, and refined. Drinks almost like a West Coast Pils, but with a little less carbonation and an overall softer mouthfeel, like a baby Luponic Distortion. Similar to my opinions on that series, I was hoping for a slightly more traditional style pale ale with a bit more malt presence to help carry the hop flavors, especially so I could see what HBC 1019 brings. You get hints of it poking through, but I definitely want more. Hopefully they play around with it more in the future. As a 5% crusher of a pale which is probably what they were aiming for, they hit it.
