DDH Foggy IPA (NZ Version of Socks) with Motueka, Riwaka, Rakau, and Nelson
The fine folks at Garage Project have been making eclectic, progressive, and experimental beers for years! We teamed up recently and decided to take a spin on our Socks & Sandals beer and transform the PNW hops in classic Socks for their New Zealand equivalents (at least in our minds). Pete at Garage Project suggested the following hop substitutions
Simcoe = Nelson Sauvin (but swap DH2 to 60%)
Centennial = Motueka
Chinook = Riwaka
Citra = Rakau (40% @ DH2)

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little nice lacing.
S: Tropical and stone fruit, hints of Nelson fruitiness, a little citrus, a touch floral, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Mix of exotic, tropical and orchard fruit, pear, apricot, peach, mango, melon, gooseberry, papaya, and white grape, light citrus, lemon, grapefruit, and tangerine, a touch floral, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: I was hoping to like this one more than I do. It's fine. The fruity flavors are fairly soft and I think the Rakau contribution jumps out the most, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Not as special as I was hoping it could be, but I'd still drink a second pint.
