Pe’a from Fox Farm. Received from @Roy_Hobbs in BIF #14. Stored at home at 40 degrees. Reviewed 16/10/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom “CANNED ON 09/08/2021”. Served at 41.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 50.9 degrees.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), hazy.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), opaque. When rear-lite, weakly translucent.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.4 cm, aggressive center pour), ghost white, high density, average retention, diminishing to an undulating eight to fifteen mm crown and a rocky partial cap. Second pour produces a high-density 0.7 cm head. Unfiltered.
Lacing – Good. Multiple irregular wide band three-dimensional bands of tiny to small bubbles.
Aroma – 3.5 - Weak generic tropical hops and some resin, no malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 4 – Flavor follows nose - no yeast, no malt, moderate tropical/melon fruity flavor and light resinous bitterness. No ethanol (8.4 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Mild gastric warming with each swallow, rapidly passes. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.75 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 Overall, a pleasing brew with a good mouthfeel and taste but a bit lacking in the aroma. Very easy to drink.

Picked-up a single can at Fox Farm Brewery in Salem, Connecticut for about four dollars. My seventh brew from these guys. Very west-coast style, I enjoyed this one.

Unbelievably smooth and creamy body; fantastic feel. Not overly bitter, but definitely a balanced NE-style IIPA.

Riwaka hops aren’t a particular favorite of mine, but here they come across juicy and a touch herbal. Indistinct hop tones; mostly tropical.

The nose doesn’t pop, but the can is over two months old; while there is no staleness on the palate, I can only imagine the aroma is much brighter and stronger when fresher.

Nice IIPA strength malt body and sweetness. Damn enjoyable and remarkably smooth.

This one pours a hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells somewhat boozy, with astringent pine, lemon, lime, and citrus.

This is one of the very few Fox Farm beers that I haven't been completely in love with. It's quite bitter, a bit chalky/astringent, and there's definitely a boozy finish to this one. I usually like Riwaka hops but it doesn't work as well for me. I can definitely detect some great citrusy and lime notes, but it's not enough.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and astringent on the back end. It's not as drinkable as the vast majority of Fox Farm beers.

This wasn't awful by any means, but it's one of the lesser Fox Farm beers that I've had.

Pours a dark, hazy orange with excellent head, retention and lacing. Definitely an attractive beer. Aroma is bursting with the Riwaka hops. I find Riwaka to have some citrus notes, but they are different than other hop varieties. Unique, but in a good way. Distinct piney notes on the tongue, but in a subdued enough way as to not overwhelm the palate with bitterness. Fairly pillowy and easy going down. Good beer.

Had this beer last night. I’ve had several from Fox Farm and every can I’ve had has been spectacular. Very piney with notes of honeydew. Soft and delicious.

Pours a slightly dark orange color, completely opaque, with an off-white head and good lacing.

The smell is strong citrus up front with a piney hoppiness underneath.

The taste is dank, earthy, piney with a bit of tropical flavors.

The mouthfeel is medium body and low/medium carbonation.

Overall this is a unique tasting beer, very earthy, and enjoyable.

No canning date (released on 12/14/20, so presumably canned within a few days of that date); consumed on 1/3/21

Pours an opaque, glossy burnt orange body capped with multiple fingers of thick, fluffy, white foam; solid head retention leaves a rocky finger of cap, a dense, soapy collar, and a speckled curtain of spotty lacing trailing beneath chunky, soapy rings circling the walls of the glass.

Aroma opens with notes of lemon candy sweetness edged with medicinal hops as mossy/grassy characteristics brighten into fresh pineapple chunks and hints of mango; guava rinds add a semi-earthy texture as tropical fruitcake unifies citrus and a rounded, dank hoppiness to close.

Taste brings resinous, piney sweetness, and lemon cake, cedar sap, and wet moss together for a uniquely herbal sweetness upfront, as ruby red grapefruit nectar shines past the mid-palate and spiced peach meets a resurging hop resin and oily dankness through the finish.

Mouthfeel shows a medium body and moderate carbonation laying the foundation for a juicy edge sparking a delicate hop acidity over the mid-palate, remaining taut and easy on the tongue as a low-lying grit builds into the back end and a mild-moderate bitterness shines into the finish and past the swallow.

A NEIPA toying with amplified sweetness, though ultimately balanced by that deft, expertly tentative Fox Farm touch seeing the more herbal aspects of the hops come through; decidedly unique in a quasi-savory fashion, this brew is maintained to where the potent Riwaka hop is level and avoids one-dimensionality, and leaves its more eccentric aspects decidedly palatable.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 12/16/2020, to a Nonic at Fridge temp.
Deep orange opaque body, small white head, tilt the glass and back up to see a multitude of bubbles from the lacing climb back up to the surface. Its a pretty cool effect. Head settles to thin, dense layer of tiny bubbles. Lacing is similar.
Dank, sweet aroma with pine and citrus and mango notes.
Taste is bitter and sweet, on and off, rather complex. Dry finish. Remote sense of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium but tongue coating stays after the swallow.
Really a good beer. Nice to have it so fresh also.
