A 10°P Czech-Style Pale Lager made with our friends at Threes Brewing. Imbue is a beer that took us out of our comfort zone in many ways, employing processes and ingredients that were firsts for us, while still striving for an end result grounded in subtlety and drinkability - qualities we’ve long admired in Threes’ beer. Starting with a blend of Czech barley, including a new (to us) Pilsner malt, Imbue saw hearty additions of whole leaf Czech Saaz hops both in the boil and during a warm hop steep in our coolship. Made with Threes’ preferred Czech lager strain, it was open-fermented and then cold-conditioned in one of our horizontal lagering tanks. We’re quite proud of Imbue - it’s full-bodied and satisfying despite its size (just 4% ABV) and the hop character is wonderfully smooth and balanced. Better yet, it’s a decidedly unique beer that stands out from our lager lineup generally and from Pip, its 10°P counterpart, specifically.

Canned on 6/8/22; consumed on 6/30/22
Pours a clear, deep lemon-gold body capped with two fingers of dense, soapy, white foam; good head retention sees a thin layer of cap encircled by a moderate, frothy collar while splotchy webs of lacing hold firmly to the walls of the glass.
Aroma resounds with robust lager yeast cut with soft lemondrop and an interwoven minerality; wheat cracker brings heft as subtle undertones of straw and delicately floral aspects build to brown bread crusts lingering.
Taste offers wet honeysuckle accented with a firmer lemondrop undertone, leaving lager yeast building over the mid-palate; subtle minerality glosses over the back end while fresh white bread dough lingers through the finish.
Mouthfeel shows a light body and moderate-high carbonation, veering dryly crisp and taut in texture as a wet interlude past mid-palate dries again to a clean, bready density through the finish.
A clean, approachable affront of lager yeast maximizes character before easing to crispier malt aspects; these initial, subtle nuances ultimately take a backseat to an amplifying, base sense of raw, refreshing quenchability.

16oz. Can served in a Nordic cooler. Pours a translucent gold with a slight chill haze to the clarity and loose, 1/8th inch, off-white head that quickly disperses towards the shoulders. Nose is subdued and clean with hints of grass. Taste follows nose. Mouthfeel is light in body with n easy, even carbonation. Overall, a pleasant expression of the style.
