Introducing Menuet, our Meerts-Inspired Spontaneous Ale (3.8% ABV). Traditionally made by lambic producers as a low-alcohol, second runnings beer, Meerts is a small but complex style that was nearly lost to history. With Menuet we lean into the [often overlooked] thirst-quenching, purely drinkable possibilities within spontaneous brewing. Made with local unmalted wheat, malted barley, whole leaf aged hops and our well water, Menuet was aged in oak for one year prior to blending and bottling in March. Since packaging we’ve been eagerly anticipating this release - Menuet is showing wonderful depth and complexity while remaining incredibly approachable. It certainly has aging potential but it’s a beer we encourage you to enjoy as soon as the mood strikes, alone or with good company.

750ml capped/corked bottle served in a Hoppin Frog glass. Bottled 02.03.23. Hand-delivered by @Roguer
Pours a hazy bright whitish yellow with a medium sized, stiff head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is tart, lemon and attic oak, bright floral, dry grass. Some musty, earthiness.
Taste is (I think) more on the saison and lemon soda side than lambic. Definite tartness, but dominated by brett funk. Lemon zest has a strong presence. Oak and grass are there, but overwhelmed.
Mouthfeel is light, dry, very effervescent. Overall, it's not bad -- I'd call it a saison that leans toward lambic.
Note: Went back and looked at some other reviews and saw @Roguer used the word "cheesy" -- interesting, because I ate a couple bites of white cheddar 10-20 minutes before starting this beer, and thought the cheddary vibe I was getting was residual from my snack.

Wonderful nose, equal parts funk and citrus.
Impressively complex on the palate despite the high drink ability. Earthy, cheesy, dank, slightly sour. The oak influence is enormous. Additional notes of lemon, white wine vinegar, honey, and wheat.
