my very first from these guys, first i have ever even heard of them, big thanks to my brother for sending a few cans out this way for me to get into. this is ultra modern east coast ipa, thick and densely hazy, intensely dry hopped, and packaged in a subtle but catchy way, this looks like it could have come from other half or something, sort of has that current pint can of hops aesthetic, very sharp, i was super stoked to get into this. a slightly odd color to this, a denser look too, but a deeper, duller tone, amazing head though, two inches high and rising above the rim of the glass, nice retention and lace, all pure white. aroma here is unique for citra and mosaic, an often used combination, but there is a neat pungency to it, more orange than i generally get from either varietal, and some pineapple juiciness in the mix. its got a little bit of a greenness about it, seems plenty fresh to me, survived the journey west pretty well. the taste is a touch muted compared to the nose, both citra and mosaic apparent, but also a hint of passion fruit to me, some pine bitterness, and a resinous weed thing more common in the west coast style ipas. there is no trace of the alcohol here at all, a balancing but pretty big wheaty or oaty (or both) grain base, and more bite than this needs, maybe slightly over dry hopped, it has that over saturated intensity, but the flavors are awesome and i dont mind it lingering some in the finish, just a shade off of all the way dialed in, but delicious through and through. its smooth and creamy feeling, thickens up some as it warms, but this texture works for a double and for a beer this hoppy, the carbonation is also on point. solid offering here, on trend but also distinctive, looking forward to the other can of theirs i have in the fridge, maybe for tonight! hope to check this place out in the flesh when i am back east later this summer!
