We got together with our long time friends at Prison City Beer to brew a juicy IPA that also incorporates a little west coast feel. With the incorporation of a nice dose of English malts along with soft wheat and fluffy oats, we were able to have a perfect base to bring in some of our favorite old school west coast IPA hops like Chinook, Citra and Simcoe for both bittering and aroma. It was then dry hopped twice with a blend of these hops along with a big addition of our favorite new hop, Strata. Extremely juicy with heavy notes of gummy peach rings, pineapple, orange citrus, with a little danky dank resin vibe.

No date, but it arrived at the beer store directly from the brewery, 3 days ago. Assume it is fresh.
Opaque apricot, with 1/2" off-white head, that leaves a thin ring, some surface sheeting, and a few spots and streaks of lacing.
Smells of apricot, persimmon, candied mango, and orange. Faint, "fresh", crackery malt aroma appears after the head fades.
Taste is similar to aroma, except that the apricot/peach flavor is that of not-quite-ripeness, and the orange also includes rind & pith flavors, along with the sweeter flesh element present in the aroma. This adds some moderate bitterness. There is also a dank, resinous flavor underneath it all, that emerges and lingers , near and after finish.
Feel is medium, juicy, slightly slick, with light , very fine carbonation tingle. Slight pleasant burn after finish. (Guessing that may mellow, or disappear, with age.) Tongue is left feeling lightly coated overall, but sanded-off up front. Slight internal warming, but otherwise no noticeable alcohol presence.
Overall , very enjoyable, and welcome anytime. I like the bitterness that so many breweries have abandoned of late. Brings me back to the ancient days of 2017 & 2018. :P

a collaboration with prison city, which is where we enjoyed a frosty pint of this. delicious beer, hazy but bitter, kind of the best of both worlds here, and a neat hop complexion, sort of familiar with big piney and bitter citrus elements, northwestern like that, but also kind of modern, not quite southern hemisphere but fruity in a cool way later on, a neat dry hop to this, and great beer overall, sturdy but dangerously drinkable at this strength. its pale orange in color with a nice inch of white head, more unfiltered than thick hazy looking, low rust toned glow to it. the nose and flavor show big orange and tangerine up front, citra on steroids, simcoe too, pine sap and pine needles, almost sticky like that too, some weedy dankness and lightly vegetal, and not a ton from the grain despite the body. i get other fruitiness too, dried mango, juicy peach, and an herbal almost dill note as it sits a minute, not overdone, but distinctive, especially with the late onset bitterness that usually does not accompany these hop notes. i love that this brings some punch, so few of these do, proves its possible to be juicy and classically biting at the same time, and i think they got the mix right between the two. a little bit of an oily linger here, but its a delicious aftertaste with it. the ferment is pretty clean, leaving just enough residual sugar for this to seem balanced the whole way, and the alcohol is sneakily well hidden. very solid and fresh as heck!
