Petit Blanc is an almost unknown hop, a long lost variety found in the backyard of a former hop grower in the Champagne Region of France. When we came across this hop, it had many of the characteristics we look for in aroma hops and we thought, we should give this a try in something light, fresh and juicy. “Intensive fruity flavor: Papaya/Melon, Cherry, Lilac, Pina Colada, Lemon Blossom, Green Tea, Beeswax” are some of the descriptions that came along with this hop.

A 5% heavily wheated lPA base hopped on the hot side with Amarillo and Petit Blanc. It was then dry hopped with Petit Blanc.

The nose fits those descriptions big time. Lots of lilac, creamy pineapple “pina colada”, lemon balm, lemon beeswax, orange creamsicle & winterg

Petit Blanc pours a hazy golden color, with a small, but long-lasting head. The aroma is dry, with white wine notes. The flavor has hints of dry melon, orange, and white wine. Good feel. Overall, a funky, hazy IPA, a bit more bitter, noticeable fruit-like notes.
