The original session beer, and old time, rustic farmhouse ale. Crisp, light, refreshing and slightly tart with hints of lemon and orange zest.

On tap at the brewery. Solid saison, hint of funk but not truly sour. Almost getting that touch of bubblegum flavor. Fairly light.

June 2018 Pint can of "Farmhouse Saison" 4.5% abv. "Belgian style saison" on the can.
A very lively burnt gold color, bubbly streams shows off big carbonation that creates a firm white foamy cap. Some minor lacing excists.
A rich abundance of bright citrusu hops, zippy herbals, dry wheat and wet grass, peppercorns, earthy density of funk.
First thing, I'm really excited the yeast doesn't just taste like banana and clovee like most American Saison versions do. This yeast, which is the backbone of this style, features a very herbaceous and earthy based taste. Some minor banana style sour and sweet fruity sweetness can be detected but does not dominate. The ultra crisp, light and sweet malt thing keeps it all in perspective. Some white wine, grappy flavors pop out, a grandma'style asdortment of herbs and spices kick it up a few nothches with dry wheat and corn, assorted grains and straw of summer leaks out in a subtle way in the finish.
I must say, this one is crisp, funky but crazy drinkable with a nice balancevof yeast and malt, the hops seem to give off mostly herbal and dry earthy tones leaving the yeast to lead the way.
One of my all-time favorite local, American versions of the marvelously excecuted Belgian/French dominated classic.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great a nice golden hue with a thin two finger head that fades to leave light lacing and a thin blanket.
S - Aromas of nice barnyard funk, light hay, good softer yeast esters, lightly floral.
T - Taste is similar to the nose good funk and barnyard notes. Very solid esters, nice fruity esters.
M - Mouthfeel was a bit on the thinner side, lightly watery.
O - Overall this was a solid farmhouse. Nice peppery farmhouse, good funk.
Serving Type: growler

Nice creamy rich head, good sticky lacing, hazy golden straw.
Nose nice toasted wheat grain, rustic grainy farmhouse malt and floral spices phenol fruity ester farmhouse yeast, citrus, orange zest, little sweet malt.
Taste dry grainy malt, little sweet malt, toasted grain, straw, more farmhouse like grainy rustic malt, nice farmhouse yeast little funk and nice peppery phenols and little fruity esters, Curtis orange zest, little spicy grassy hop bitterness late. Dry semi bitter finish
Mouth is med bod, fluffy effervescent carb, bright.
Overall a very nice farmhouse, great malt and yeast components, good balance, dry, nice mild hop although bitterness on the finish is a touch too much.

It was OK. Tasted like a generic saison brewed with generic Belgian yeast. Would be nice to see something with a cleaner yeast profile, perhaps as they develop their own native yeast it could become something really nice. Overall I like the attempt to brew a true low abv saison.
