Elegant in its deep ruby-black hue, this Dark Lager captivates with an aroma of cold brew and subtle herbal spices. Delightfully balanced with a pleasing bitterness and a touch of toffee, it offers a harmonious blend of darkness and lightness. An ideal choice for those seeking a dark beer that has a lighter taste.

Poured from 16oz can obtained at the brewery into a dimpled mug. The label says "date filled 48", which I assume is 2/17/23. This can says it's 4.9% ABV.
Appearance: rich, dark amber hue, with a clear body and a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. It's not quite black, but since the label just calls this a "dark lager", rather than a schwarzbier, I'll allow it.
Smell: caramel, toast, biscuit, and just a little bit of roastiness in the aroma. Perhaps a hint of vegetal hop character as well; it's not too bad, but not super clean.
Taste: not too dissimilar to the aroma, with a malty, toasty, biscuity character. The hopping seems more reasonable, with a moderate bitterness and an earthy hop character.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: not a perfect schwarzbier (or whatever kind of dark lager), but still a perfectly reasonable quaff.

Served in shaker pint. Poured a clean, clear very dark brown/light black color, with just a hint of reddish translucence around the edges, and 1/2 inch of light brown head that had low retention and lacing.
The aroma had a solid grain base, with some floral hops, and a notable amount of roast.
Pretty similar on the tongue, with the hops being slightly bitier, and the roast lingering at the back of the palate for a few moments.
The body was fairly typical for the style; light and smooth, with a semi-dry finish
Drinkability was very good, it would be an easy brew to have a few of.
Overall, a nicely solid take on the style. Worth trying if you see it.
