Showcasing bready & toasty malt character balanced by a light herbal crispness from Hersbrucker hops. Rich but not cloying, Oktoberfest is a seasonal treat.

Oktoberfest - from Thin Man. 16 fl oz can purchased from Franklin Beer Co, Franklin, PA, 01/07/24, $ 2.00 (Including tax), $ 0.125/fl oz. Reviewed 12/07/24 (Review 3316). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “23AUG2023 DUMP PARTY”. Stored in reefer at the distributor, 34 degrees at home. Served at 43.8 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 54.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), slight haze.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.7 cm, aggressive center pour), pale gold, high density with a rocky top, leaving a jagged 0.25 – 0.6 cm crown and a rocky, partial cap.
Lacing – Poor. A few small islands of tiny bubbles remain hanging.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weak nose – malty with a touch of floral hops. No yeast, no alcohol (6.3 % ABV, according to the can).
Flavor – 4 – Follows the nose. Distinctly toasted malty. No yeast, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium; watery; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 3.5 Decent take on Oktoberfest Marzen – malt dominates the floral hops. Not as crisp as I’d like, but nor am I, for the same reason.

Served in .5 liter dimpled glass
Look - initially clear with a very large head that looked like it might never dissipate, but ended up looking a little cloudy with only a thin layer of froth; light caramel color; lightly carbonated
Smell - sweet malt aroma, but no discernable hops
Taste - sweet, but not cloying malt flavor, hops on the aftertaste
Feel - smooth and slightly thick
Overall a very good Märzen and a nice alternative to all the festbiers - well worth the $10 I paid for 2 liters

16 ounce can poured into a dimpled mug.
Canned 7/19/22
L: Amber, a bit cloudy, three finger antique-white head with great retention and a little lace.
S: Bright spicy hops, a little citrus, no malt.
T: Clean and dry, moderate bitterness, no sweetness, some toasted malt flavor up front but mostly balanced to malt, floral and citrus hop flavor.
F: Lighter feel, crisp, softens some as it warms.
O: Malt character is dominated by hops, comes off more like an IPL to my palate.

I'm an IPA guy but I drink something else occasionally. I would have to say this is one of the better Octoberfest beers I've had. Very enjoyable.

16 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours on the lighter side for a marzen, a medium copper, with a fluffy off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma and flavor feature surprisingly bitter floral hops and light bready malt with some caramel. More bitter than sweet, but the bitterness actually faded away if anything as I drank the beer. Enjoyable enough but not a great style example, IMO.

This one's from a tap and served in a clear pint glass, without any head, the Philadelphia style. It's a bright and very light copper-amber, as translucent as any within this category. But it also brings that fresh bready malt aroma as any within this category. The taste is richer than it looks like it would be. The mouthfeel my not be as full as some, but this has plenty of taste. Despite the missing head, this is nicely carbonated. There's enough complex malty sweetness, but a nice dose of hops dries the finish out and balances the sweet. Overall, it's a little malt thinner and a notch hoppier than its peers. But even without any glass lacing, there's nothing wrong here.

A big, dirty, white head holds a creamy, two inches before becoming loose and leaving a coating of lace on a double-walled pint glass. The beer has a light, amber/gold color (SRM 5-6) and is clear. Tiny, random bubbles meander upward as the head collapses to a thick blanket after about three minutes.
The aromatics are very light, beginning with a blankness that subtly becomes saltwater taffy. It is pleasant in its minimalism.
Peanut skins are present within the bitterness, which is fairly strong for a Marzen. Dark toasted white bread fills the middle. Interestingly, the finish has a distinct, though light, mocha flavor. Sweetness is a late factor.
Alcohol is well below expectations. Carbonation is modest and fizzy. The texture is similar to coarse nylon within a medium body.
This is a decent beer and would likely benefit from a pairing with wings.

Pours a light amber. Bready aroma. Light malt body followed by a sharply bitter finish. I expected more malt. Not bad but somewhat off balanced.
