This release of Bourbon Barrel Awesome Jenkins was brewed at our Chandler facility and spent 20 months in Willett Bourbon Barrels. Brighter than previous releases of BA Jenkins, spicy bourbon greets the nose along with caramel, toffee and unsweetened chocolate. Some stonefruit in the finish, with notes of oak, vanilla & honey.

Pours very dark. The smell of Bourbon dominates. Big Bourbon flavor up front followed by a delicious roastiness on the back end. There is a lot going on and the flavors complement each other very well. A very good BBA Stout!

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This one smells like dark chocolate, licorice, molasses, brown sugar, spicy oak, dark fruit, and vanilla.

This is a small step up from the second batch of this one - Blanton's barrels - and that batch was awesome. There's a bit more barrel *punch* here - a big hit of oaky spice, some molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, etc. The base has that roasty and licorice thing, with light fruitiness and a coffee-like flavor.

This is nicely thick and creamy, and with very subtle boozy heat, and a nice drinkability.

Thin Man's barrel program is sneakily one of the best in Upstate NY - and this is yet another notch in that belt.

Poured cellar temp to a Glencairn glass. Nose is a dominant, fragrant bourbon. Color is a deep, dark brown into black. Head is a one-finger tight-cell off-white that sizzles away quickly. Body is viscous, with a fair amount of legs on the glass. First sips are, well, awesome! The bourbon comes up front fast, hot, and spicy. The stout foundation is solid dark malts, with a hint of sweetness at the very back. It really reminds me of a little brother version of Fremont’s B-Bomb, though maybe a tad darker in the malt profile. Mouthfeel is full but lively with just enough carbonation. Loads of barrel oak throughout the sips and lingering flavors. Alcohol is hot, but not distracting at all. Brings warmth, which is great considering I’m enjoying this in the three-season room while it’s about five degrees outside. Thin Man is crushing it big with their latest rounds of BA Awesome Jenkins offerings…Soft Black Stars, too!
