Rye Barrel-Aged Awesome Jenkins (Willett)

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like caramel, tobacco, rye spice, oak, vanilla, coconut, and milk chocolate.

There’s a lot going on in this one, and I like pretty much all of it. The rye barrel adds some caramel/vanilla tones, but also adds a tantalizing spice character – spicy tobacco, oakiness, and dried, toasted coconut. There’s lots of milk and dark chocolate, and a good roasty backbone as well.

This is medium bodied, pretty rich, with very little booziness.

This series continues to work very well. I think the base Awesome Jenkins, being roasty and bitter, takes really well to extended barrel time to help smooth out the corners.

Pours black like coca cola and settles in glass with no head whatsoever. Smells like sweet chocolate and spicy rye..I'm in for a treat. Flavor is all big rye barrel and big chocolate with caramel lingering. It is indeed a nice treat. Mouthfeel is between thin and medium making it nice to drink. Always a pleasure to have BA stuff from Thin Man
