With the entire contents of a pint can emptied into a clear glass liter mug, thus is revealed. The brew is dark yellow-amber in color, relatively dull and rather opaque. Its head is a modest one, just-off-white. Not particularly aromatic, there are hints of sweet starches and citrusy hops. Unfortunately, those aspects are significantly muddled in the taste. It may not be too sweet, but it's a shallow sweetness without much depth in flavor. The hop presence is citrusy, but no more complex, nor bitter than fresh squeezed orange juice. There are no transitional taste changes, the finish being only a fuller dose of what's delivered initially. There's scant glass lacing. The flaked oats, no doubt responsible for the muting and muddling of the various flavor contributions, does at least provide a nice body. It tastes so disappointingly, it's hard to find attributes. The alcohol is fairly well hidden and the mouthfeel is solid, yet very light. Perhaps if one has a specific taste for Citra Hops, this might work. As a stand alone and as a reminder of the original Trial By Wombat, this disappoints.
