Got this one at Three Meters in Utrecht
From a 37.5cl bottle into a snifter
Batch 18
EBC: 260
IBU: 70
Best Before: 12 – 2021
Malts: Pale, Aroma 50, Special B, Chocolate, Brown and Oats
Hops: Columbus
APPEARANCE: Transparent lighter brown pour yields a two finger, medium looking, slightly creamy, light tan head with good retention. Clear bistre brown body with higher levels of carbonation for the style. Head slowly fades to a thick, full cap and clings to the glass. Swirly wisp remains leaving dots of lacing down the glass. Way too light a color for the listed 260 EBC but the head is worthy.
SMELL: Roasted notes, leather, chocolate aromas, with definite dark fruits and raisins on the nose. Medium strength.
TASTE: Dark fruits, raisins and grapes, with notes of roasted malts and a touch of leather up front. More dark, fruity sweetness at the swallow with a bold and lingering finish of roasted malts, raisins, grapes and dates, plenty of dark, fruity sweetness, some light chocolate and cacao, leather, and some decent hop bitterness as well, maintaining some balance. This is pretty interesting for sure.
PALATE: Medium body with medium carbonation. Enough weight and surprisingly smooth, creamy enough as well, goes down fine and finishes slightly mouth coating. Some bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Nice stuff. This is definitely a dark fruit forward imperial porter, which is a quality I can certainly appreciate. Lots of good stuff in the flavor and aroma departments with a nice feel and head to go with it. Worth checking out if you’re a fan of the style. Cheers!

This is a fine imperial porter or stout, that shows some roasty and some chocolate notes. However, it does not blow me away and given the elevated abv, I am not sure if this is worth my sobriety with so many exceptional big dark beers out there.
