Got this one from three meters in Utrecht
From a 37.5cl bottle into a snifter
Batch 1759
EBC: 190
IBU: 50
Best Before: 10 – 2022
Malts: Pale, wheat, oat, melanoidin, Chocolate, Brown and Black malts
Tonka beans, coffee and vanilla imperial stout
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, crackly light brown head with good retention. Black body with a touch higher levels of carbonation evident for the style. Head slowly fades to a full cap. Wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Definite vanilla aromas, sweet cream, raw coffee beans, milk chocolate, with some light leather notes and some roasted qualities as well. Medium strength.
TASTE: The tonka beans are more prevalent in the flavor with some definite anise in there, as well as notes of vanilla and roasted flavors up front. Some raw coffee beans at the swallow, moving into a bolder and lingering finish of tonka, sweet cream and vanilla, milk chocolate, raw, roasted coffee beans and some leather flavors as well. Pretty well put together actually.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body and medium carbonation. Enough weight on the palate and plenty creamy, goes down smooth and finishes a bit sticky on the palate. A touch of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Pretty nice stuff. This is on par with the other DeMoersleutel black stuff and is a much better tonka imperial stout than the overwhelming Lepkiv one I had a while back. Well balanced and everything plays a solid role in the show. Good look and feel to support it as well. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of these guys. Or a fan of the bean, for that matter. Recommended.

Pours a nice motor oil black with next to zero carbonation. Nose is bright and extravagant. TONS of tonka dominate. Catching some coffee, vanilla, licorice, and some roasty notes as well. Taste is really nice. Slight bitterness, perhaps associated with the tonka or coffee. I am comparing this to the 3 Bean Stout from Lervig, and I think I prefer the latter. It has a bit more complexity than this one. Willy Tonka is mostly tonka, with a few side notes. I wouldn't call this one very complex. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a nice creamy coating to the mouth. The aftertaste is dominated by tonka
