Batch 167. From can into stemless teku.
Look: Very dark brown, some floaters. Minimal light brown foam.
Smell: Sweet, lactose, light coffee and some hazelnut. Surprisingly subtle.
Taste: Sweet lactose, milky, light chocolate. Ends on moccha chocolate, with just a tiny bit of nutella.
Feel: Medium thickness, light carbonation. Does not linger enough. Slight boozyness.
Overall: Not as intense or sticky as some of their others, but remarkebly light for the ABV. Could do with some more heavy chocolate notes, or roast, or just less lactose and adjuncts. Easy to drink, but not outstanding.

Mocha Hazelnut Cream Horn Stout
Best Before 16 September 2022
Batch no.167
Brewed with coffee, lactose, hazelnuts and cacao nibs
APPEARANCE: Clear dark brown pour yields a small, medium looking, slightly fizzy tan head with decent retention. Transparent black body with no real carbonation. Head recedes to a faint half wisp and ring. A decent ring remains leaving some falling dots of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lactose for sure, some faint, creamy coffee, vanilla and milk chocolate, a hint of hazelnuts, though mute, and some roasted aromas on the nose. Bold enough and plenty going on.
TASTE: Lactose milk sugars up front, with some sweet vanilla and some milk chocolate up front, then a some roasted coffee beans at the swallow. Medium finish of lactose, vanilla cream and milk chocolate, some caramel, as well as some roasted coffee bitterness linger on the palate. Decently flavorful, though the hazelnuts are not to be found.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Semi-creamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes somewhat sticky on the palate. No real heat lingers.
OVERALL: This is okay. It’s not as outstanding as many others in their arsenal have been in the past year or so, as the flavors are not quite as outspoken as they usually are, but it’s still solid. I’d like to see more nut presence specifically, as well as a creamier feel, but there’s still plenty here to enjoy. Cheers!
