Pours an opaque, deep, dark, ruby red coloration with a small, fluffy, purple head. Smells predominantly of tart cherry, with lighter blackcurrant and strawberry notes, as well as just a hint of licorice. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by sweet black and tart red cherry and lighter notes of blackcurrant and strawberry, as well as just the merest hint of licorice and a medium lactic acidity. Finishes with a medium tartness and some cherry and blackcurrant lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Typical case of a Kettle Sour that is NOT a Berliner Weisse, but still quite nice for what it is, with a good balance of sweet and sour notes, with the cherry very much dominating here, but being kept in check by the blackcurrant and just a hint of strawberry. The licorice is there as well, but very, very subtly so, on the one hand adding to the sweetness, but also providing a subtle hint of salty and smokey accents. I actually wish the licorice would come through a little stronger here, which would have made for a much more interesting flavor profile in my opinion.
