Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, frothy head and plenty of particulates suspended in the glass. Smells of biscuity malt and quite strong floral and herbal aromas, with just a hint of citrus coming through as well. Taste is a very poor balance of biscuity malt and extremely floral, herbal and somewhat spicy hops, with some citrus accents of grapefruit also coming through. Finishes with a very strong bitterness and floral, herbal hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I don't know what it is with De Moersleutel, they really do make exceptional Stouts, but just cannot brew a decent IPA, it seems. This is the worst I've had by them though, which just seems to suffer from an extreme overdose of Loral hops, with its extremely floral and herbal character, which is not helped by Chinook's spicy and bitter side. I actually quite like bitter and herbal IPAs, but this is too much even for me, especially with that heavy floral presence as well, making this bordeline soapy. In fact, I would imagine that this is what the cold remedy stuff I pour into my bathwater would taste like with those strong herbal notes being reminiscent of eucalyptus, sage and thyme. Labeling this mess a NEIPA is just adding insult to injury - drainpoured.
