Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht. Cheers!

From a 44cl can into a snifter
4 year anniversary beer
Freeze Distilled Double Chocolate Stout
Best before April 4444

APPEARANCE: Transparent dark brown pour yields a small, looser, dark tan head with lousy retention. Head is darker than the pour would indicate. Head quickly fizzes away to nothing, looking rather flat quickly. Black body with no carbonation. A touch of ring remains for a time but this looks mostly flat half way through the glass.

SMELL: Roasted malts, milk and dark chocolate, vanilla cream and lots of booze. Bold and boozy .

TASTE: Bold and alcoholic. Roasted flavors, alcohol, port notes and dark chocolate up front, with a decent alcohol kick at the swallow. Bold finish if boozy with roasted malts, milk and dark, bitter chocolate, bitter coffee notes, some vanilla cream and plenty of alcohol lingers long after the swallow.

PALATE: Super thick, heavy body with lower levels of carbonation. Creamy and silky slick on the palate, plenty of weight, goes down with a big scratch and burn and finishes sticky and slick. Lots of heat lingers. This is thick, heavy, slick, sticky, with plenty of residual sugars and alcohol burn.

OVERALL: It’s exactly as advertised. This is a bruiser of a beer. Ice distilled it certainly is, and the alcohol content kind of makes it difficult to get into. The look is a little lighter off the pour, but otherwise, it’s what you’d expect from a 18% beer. The nose and flavor are plenty forthcoming, though the alcohol certainly makes it harder to navigate. The stoutaholic in me loves the feel, even though the concentration of residual sugars borders on the ridiculous here. I really like this but can’t honestly say I’d like to drink it again. Perhaps a few sips, but this is rough going. This is insanely hard to score, but rest assured, you get exactly what’s advertised on the label. Cheers!
