Coconut Chocolate Stout
APPEARANCE: Clear, transparent, light brown pour yields a small, one finger, medium looking, light tan head with okay retention. Clear bistre brown body with no real carbonation evident. Head quickly recedes to a faint wisp and ring only.
SMELL: Big coconut on this one. Really big. Some milk chocolate, some slight roasted notes and a touch of vanilla, but this is a coconut beer for sure. Bold.
TASTE: Lots of coconut and vanilla on this one, with milk chocolate up front as well. Bold and very coconut-heavy. Some roasted notes at the swallow, then a bold finish of coconut, vanilla sweetness, milk chocolate, some light roasted notes and a touch of booze. Really adjunct heavy and flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, really smooth, goes down smooth and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Did I mention this was smooth? Very smooth. A bit of heat lingers, but this is smooth.
OVERALL: Great. This has all the right stuff in all the right places. Really aromatic, flavorful, and the feel is great. I usually never say this, but even though it’s great as it is, it really does deserve a legit imperial version. Might be out of this world. Check it out if you can. Recommended.
