Got this one from the De Moersleutel webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 11 November 2020
Blend of cognac and bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts and aged for 12 months
APPEARANCE: Pours out black and yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy, frothy, somewhat noisy tan head with good retention. Jet black body with no visible carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp.
SMELL: This has a lovely nose. Bourbon, dark chocolate fudge brownies, molasses, caramel and toffee, vanilla cream and light notes of coconut on the nose. Like bourbon covered chocolate fudge cake. Bold and decadent.
TASTE: Roasted notes with bourbon, chocolate fudge and vanilla cream up front, then a dose of bourbon, chocolate brownies and alcohol at the swallow. Bold finish of bourbon, chocolate fudge brownies, sweet caramel and toffee, milk chocolate, vanilla cream and coconut flavors, as well as some light bitter coffee and sweet bourbon and cognac lingers after the swallow. A bit of alcohol as well. Decadence in a glass.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body and medium carbonation. Creamy and silky smooth on the palate, enough weight, goes down smooth with a light burn and finishes sticky on the palate. Some medium heat lingers.
OVERALL: Yes. Yes and yes again. This is world class stuff that can compete with anyone in the business. Solid look and a killer feel, but the nose and flavor is a boozy chocolate fudge cake in a glass and the 14% is either a lie or a magic trick. It really doesn’t get much better than this. De Moersleutel has been the no.1 player in the imperial stout game around here and this one shows again that their stuff can dominate a good barrel with the best of them. Awesome and highly, highly recommended to anyone who likes things that are awesome. Yes. Awesome. Cheers!
