Got this from the dooper. Post iron beer. Cheers, man!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 2 March 2021
Imperial hibiscus, licorice & black Cardamom stout
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a three finger, thicker looking, creamy tan head with great retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full cap and clings to the glass. Eventually hits a splotchy wisp and ring. Splotchy wisp remains leaving decent lacing down the glass. Good looking.
SMELL: Roasted malts, milk chocolate, tobacco, licorice aromas, definite cardamom seeds, with a light touch of vanilla cream on the nose. Roasted and plenty going on. Bold.
TASTE: Roasted malts, tobacco and leather flavors, licorice and some milk chocolate sweetness up front, leading into a roasted, bitter and boozy finish. Bold aftertaste of roasted and burnt malts, bitter chocolate, tobacco, licorice, some light vanilla cream and cardamom seeds lingers on the palate. Some decent alcohol as well. Bold and flavorful, with a roasted, bitter, boozy and flavorful finish.
PALATE: Medium-full body with medium carbonation. Plenty of weight on the palate, full and slick, goes down smooth and finishes rather sticky. Some heat and bitterness linger.
OVERALL: This is excellent. Really flavorful with a fuller, thicker feel to is. Love these De Moersleutel imperial stout brews and this is an excellent example of why they’re the best adjunct brewer here in the Netherlands. A great one worth picking up more of. Cheers, doopie!
