Poured from a can into a snifter.
Look: As it says on the tin, pours thick and jet-black. Beautiful, massive two-finger head, the colour of milk chocolate, nice retention with lasting fingers. A little bit of sediment left behind when I finished it.
Smell: Mostly vanilla beans and chocolate cake, a little bit of coffee and whiskey, slightly malty.
Taste: YUM. Vanilla beans, not vanillin or another substitute. Chocolate cake again. More malty than the nose lets on. Pretty damn sweet but not quite cloying, has a nice bitterness to balance it out too.
Feel: Not as thick and viscous as I was expecting with a name like "motor oil," but maybe the name set my expectations high. It's still quite thick, don't get me wrong. Light carbonation.
Overall: Straightforward, delicious dessert stout. Really impressed with this. I'll ask my store to stock more of these guys if possible.

Got this one from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 11 January 2021
Made with Mexican and bourbon vanilla
APPEARANCE: Pours out a syrupy clear black and yields a three finger, thicker, creamy tan head with great retention. Head slowly recedes to a swirly wisp and ring. Black body with no carbonation evident. A swirly wisp and ring remains until the end leaving touches of lacing falling down the glass as it empties. This is a really good looking beer. A bit blacker and it'd be perfection.
SMELL: Lots of vanilla on the nose right off the bat, with milk chocolate, a touch of butterscotch cream, light coffee notes, and a solid roasted base as well. Bold.
TASTE: Vanilla, creamy milk chocolate, some coffee flavors and roasted notes up front, then more roasted flavors and some bitterness at the swallow. Really roasted and decent bitterness with a good dose of alcohol as well. Bold finish of roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, creamy vanilla, some milk chocolate and alcohol linger on the palate. Flavorful, with plenty of roasted bitterness and some nice vanilla flavors.
PALATE: Full body, thick and creamy, with slightly lower levels of carbonation. Heavy and creamy on the palate, goes down fine with a decent burn after the swallow, finishing sticky on the palate. Some heat lingers. Big, thick, heavy and beastly, just like the other variants. Great feel here.
OVERALL: Another fantastic Motorolie from De Moersleutel. This and their Smeerolie variants are top notch. Great look, huge feel, and a very enjoyable aroma and flavor profile. Another stellar example of why these guys are the best stout brewers in the country now. I might have liked the coffee version just a bit more, but I would certainly go back for more of this and it seems like whatever stout beer they put in can is well worth the effort. Check this out if you’re a Moersleutel fan. Cheers!
