Got this one from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 17 May 2021
Imperial pastry stout with lactose, hazelnuts, vanilla and cacao nibs
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a 2 finger, looser looking, fizzy light tan head with lousy retention. Head quickly recedes to a thin film and ring. Black body with lots of carbonation evident. A ring and touches of wisp remain leaving traces of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Bold nose of roasted malts, vanilla cream and lactose sugars, milk chocolate, cacao, caramel and toffee aromas on the nose.
TASTE: Roasted flavors, lactose sugars, vanilla beans with cacao up front, into a sweet caramel, roasted and boozy swallow. Bold finish of roasted flavors, vanilla cream and caramel sweetness, toffee flavors, milk chocolate, cacao and lactose, as well as some light alcohol flavors linger after the swallow. Flavorful and rather sweet.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Slightly creamy but also a touch foamy, goes down okay with a bit of a burn and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. No real heat lingers.
OVERALL: Solid stuff. The look is not quite as tight as it could be, but the nose and flavor profile definitely fit the bill. The lactose and cacao nibs give it a nice sweet character which gives it that napoleon vibe. Good stuff and worth checking out if you’re a fan of pastry stouts, which I certainly am. Cheers!
