Got this from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Cognac, Apple Brandy, Scotch barrel aged Imperial Stout with vanilla and cinnamon
APPEARANCE: Clear brown pour yields a 2 finger, foamy, frothy, light tan head with okay retention. Black body with high levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly fades away to a full, creamy cap. Splotchy wisp and ring remain leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties. A little over-carbonated for the style, with a overly foamy head.
SMELL: Boozy nose with cognac, peated scotch, some cinnamon aromas, vanilla, and some milk chocolate on the nose. Plenty spicy with bold barrel aromas on this one. Nice.
TASTE: Cognac, some peated scotch flavors, hints of cinnamon and vanilla up front. Some apple brandy and milk chocolate through the swallow, moving into a bold finish of scotch and brandy barrel, cinnamon spices, some sweet vanilla and milk chocolate flavors, as well as some oak and booze linger on the palate. Flavorful, with plenty going on.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, a bit foamy, goes down smooth with a bit of a burn and finishes rather sticky on the palate. Some heat and cinnamon spices linger.
OVERALL: Great stuff. Aromatic, flavorful, with plenty of layers. The different barrels give it lots of character, with plenty of sweetness and a light touch of peated scotch, and the cinnamon and vanilla additions add another layer of spices to the mix. A good feel also gives it the backbone that it needs. Really enjoyable and well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the style. Glad to see another high quality Barcode in my glass. Cheers!
