Got this from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned: 19 April 2021
Bourbon & Scotch barrel aged imperial stout with cacao nibs and vanilla pods
APPEARANCE: Clear brown pour yields a 2 finger, foamy, frothy, light tan head with okay retention. Black body with high levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly fades away to a faint wisp and ring. Splotchy wisp and ring remain leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties. A little over-carbonated for the style, with a overly foamy head.
SMELL: Bourbon, oak aromas, with light hints of peated scotch and caramel on the nose. Some vanilla cream, milk chocolate and roasted notes as well. Bold, aromatic, and plenty boozy.
TASTE: Bourbon, lightly peated scotch notes, oak, vanilla cream, some milk chocolate, and plenty of alcohol at the swallow. Big and bold. More barrel character, moving into a bold finish of bourbon, oak, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, caramel sweetness, some roasted bitterness and plenty of alcohol linger on the palate. Bold, flavorful, and plenty barrel forward. Good.
PALATE: Medium body and slightly foamy on the palate. Not particularly creamy, goes down a little harsh with a solid burn and finishes very sticky. Plenty of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Lovely stuff. The aroma and flavor on this one is top notch, though the head is too foamy and the feel a little prickly as well. Love the sweet barrel flavors here and they work really well with the vanilla and cacao additions. Reminds me why I always try to brew half-assed ghetto versions of this type of stuff. It’s never quite as good, but a man can dream. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the barcodes, which I definitely am. Cheers!
