Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 7 July 2021
Imperial stout with tonka beans, maple syrup, vanilla and smoked chili
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy, frothy tan head with great retention. Black body with lower levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full cap and clings to the glass. A faint wisp remains leaving touches of lacing on the glass. Same look as the others in the series. Solid.
SMELL: Definite smoked chili aromas on this one, with vanilla, light maple syrup, butterscotch and some roasted character in there as well.
TASTE: Some smokey flavors with notes of maple syrup, butterscotch, some vanilla cream and milk chocolate, with a good dose of chili heat at the swallow. Bold finish of roasted flavors, some definite chili heat, vanilla character, hints of maple syrup and milk chocolate linger on the palate. Flavorful with a solid chili character.
PALATE: Fuller body with medium levels of carbonation. Creamy and slick on the palate, goes down smooth with a solid bite at the swallow, finishing somewhat sticky. Some chili heat lingers.
OVERALL: Love the Willy Tonka series and this one certainly fits the bill. Nice look on it, with a big, thick body and lots of aroma and flavor everywhere. The chili heat makes its presence felt, to be sure, but it’s not overwhelming in the least. If you’re a fan of the style, you’ll love this one. I do. Cheers!
