Got this one from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned: August 2021
Imperial stout with peanuts, almonds and hazelnuts
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a three finger, medium looking, creamy but slightly fizzy tan head with good retention. Pitch black body with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full, foamy cap with excellent staying power. Eventually gets to a splotchy wisp and ring, leaving traces of lacing on the glass as it empties. Good looking.
SMELL: Lots of nuts, hazelnuts in particular, milk chocolate, vanilla cream, some roasted coffee aromas and fudge on the nose. Peanut brownies perhaps. Great.
TASTE: Some peanuts and hazelnuts, with milk chocolate, vanilla flavors and some roasted coffee up front, then more roasted flavors and some coffee bitterness at the swallow. Bold finish is roasted, with milk chocolate, hazelnuts, some peanut character, coffee bitterness and a touch of alcohol lingering on the palate. Nice.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Silky smooth on the palate, enough weight, goes down slick and finishes rather sticky on the palate. A bit of bitterness and a touch of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Really good stuff. A sticky imperial stout with some nice nut and chocolate quality, which makes it a bit like a nut-filled chocolate brownie. Great feel on this one too, making it all the more enjoyable. Another great pastry stout from De Moersleutel. Definitely recommend this one if you’re a fan of the brewery. Cheers!
