Got this one from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 4 October 2021
Imperial stout with lactose, pecans, vanilla and Muscovado sugar
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a 2 finger, medium, looser looking, foamy, slightly fizzy tan head with okay retention. Black body with lower levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp cap. Ring and touches of wisp remain leaving no real lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lactose, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, some solid pean nuts as well as some chocolate brownies on the nose. Some brown sugar and light coffee notes as well. Desert-like. Solid strength.
TASTE: Flavorful up front with lactose, bod sugar flavors and pecan nuts on the palate. Milk chocolate and vanilla cream as well, with more nuts and some sugary sweetness at the swallow. Bold finish of pecans, sugar, vanilla flavors, some milk chocolate and a touch of coffee lingers on the palate. This is sugary sweet with enough pecan flavor to go with it.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine with a bit of a scratch and finishes mouth-coating. A touch of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Solid, but a little too sugar heavy for my tastes. The pecan additions are nice and the nose is quite desert-like, but the flavor profile is sugary sweet and the pecan quality comes across as a little artificial. Not quite up to their lofty standards in my books but they can’t all be made specifically for me. If you like sugary stouts, this will do it for you, but for me, I’ll pass on this one.
