De Moersleutel – The Bolt & The Beast
Got this from the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 19 November 2021
Collaboration with Seven Island Brewery
Imperial stout with coconut, coffee and cacao nibs
APPEARANCE: Syrupy dark brown pour yields a three finger, Medium-thicker looking, creamy dark tan head with great retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a splotchy wisp and clings to the glass.
SMELL: Coconut, vanilla notes, creamy coffee and milk chocolate on the nose, with a touch of roasted malts and some caramel one the nose. Bold enough.
TASTE: Creamy coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate and some alcohol up front, with a touch of roasted notes and some more booze at the swallow. Bold and boozy finish of roasted malts, creamy coffee, milk chocolate and vanilla, some molasses and light touches of soy sauce. Plenty sweet and boozy.
PALATE: Thick, heavy body with very low carbonation. Silky, syrupy and slick on the palate, goes down fine and finishes very sticky on the palate. A touch of heat lingers. This is very syrupy and slick.
OVERALL: Super syrupy and slick with plenty of boozy and sweet, roasted flavors on this one. Only venture into the deep here if you like your imperial stouts to feel like drinking maple syrup. That’s certainly right up my alley so I’d gladly dive into another given the opportunity. For some reason I like this way more than the score indicates. I mean, a 4.05 is solid, but this was my bag of tricks. Anyways. Buy it if you can. Cheers!
