From tasting notes 12/21/18
Had on-tap at Moonraker Brewing in Auburn, CA
Appearance - Served up in a nonic pint, deep chocolate brown, near black, with a mostly barren surface and a fair ring of suds around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
Smell - Chocolate, coffee, smokey bacon and a hint of Maple sweetness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolate and slight staleness in the coffee, then the smokey bacon flavor kicks in and dominates much of the flavor profile. Distant Maple, but it finds a brief moment to shine through near the finish. Aftertaste is mostly smokey bacon with faint generic coffee.
Mouthfeel - Weak, thin body with low, tingly carbonation. Watery finish.
Overall - This beer has a few positives, but also a few negatives. The bacon flavor is nice, but the coffee aspect tastes like yesterday’s Folgers. The body is also lacking, and the weakest part of the Brew. It's simply way too watery. A few tweaks and this could be much, much better.

On tap at moonraker and taps in Petaluma. An amazing balance between roasted malts, a sizeable helping of maple, roasty coffee bitterness, and a light hint if bacon fat and meatiness. This beer has an excellent mouthfeel - effectively coating for a porter. Long and balanced finish. The light roasted-malt bitterness along with the coffee mingles with the maple covered sweetness. I wish I could have this everyday!

Pour from 16oz can. Jet black to deep brown with a thin light brown head. First beer I’ve ever had that was a “bacon” beer I do believe. I’ll have to say, it smells like breakfast! Bacon, hash browns coffee and light maple syrup. Coffee is the star of this beer but this thing has huge bacon flavor as well. Salty smoky bacon like notes that are cut by the light maple syrup and roasted malts. Medium to lighter on the body. Interesting! Maybe I should hunt bacon beers ;)

On tap at the brewery. This is a bacon, maple, coffee porter. Heavy coffee on the nose, with subtle sweetness. Coffee is definitely the dominant flavor, but the maple gives it a soft, silky texture. Maple often makes beers too sweet for me, but I think the maple is just right on this one. Just a little smokiness from the bacon, adding an additional layer of complexity. Fantastic!!
