Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours nearly black, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin dark, reddish brown head that dissipates patches with light lacing. Odd and appealing color for the head. Maple is noticable on pouring. Aroma of dark toasted malt, maple, molasses, milk chocolate and bourbon. Flavor follows, with slightly sweet dark toasted malt, maple syrup, light molasses, chocolate and bourbon. Finishes a little dry with residual maple, chocolate and bourbon. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. A deep, rich imperial stout that is not shy about either the maple or bourbon components. Starts a little sweet, like a maple chocolate, then dries out a bit into a more unsweetened dark chocolate and maple finish. Both with bourbon filling. Looks, smells and tasted great. Although the maple is somewhat more forward than other similar stouts, it is not overdone, but not for those sensitive to maple flavoring. Although not a pastry stout, there is a hint of maple syrup on waffles here. Alcohol well covered, but definitely warming. A fine sipping stout.

This a thick and sweet beer. Not overly sweet but you know the maple is there. Also has a kind of Morning wood taste going for it. Smooth for the ABV and a sipper for sure. If your into maple stouts this is for you.

Poured from a bottle.

Comes out smooth, but not super thick or viscous. The smell throws you off a little bit, as you get the maple but then there's almost an 'artificial' aspect to it. It tastes like a sweet stout, but the maple flavor doesn't come all the way through for me.

Overall though, solid BA stout, would not mind having again. Would go as far as saying it's better than CBS

Imperial stout aged for 1 year in Heaven Hills and Wild Turkey barrels w/ maple. Huge maple donut/coffee shop aroma! Light, lacy tan head that leaves thick, viscous legs around the glass. Low/medium carbonation - a bit more than I like to have in a beer of this style. Thick, rich mouthfeel! This beer is incredibly rich and decadent - very big maple flavor! I really like this beer - but the maple might be a tad too much for me. If you really like maple, this is the beer for you - if not - maybe let it age a bit - see if the maple mellows out a some. As for me - I'm loving this right now - but am also curious to re-visit it after some aging - wouldn't be surprised if it got even better!
