Canned 5/2/19. For the record, it is served from an 8.5 oz can. Strange format but I'm not bothered. Drinking with the wife, as I am curious to see what she will think.
L: Pours a pinkish light red in color, and looks like watered down grapefruit juice. Looks closer to an unfiltered offering than what I am used to seeing in a kettle sour. On the pour, a whopping 3 fingers of head formed and retained rather nicely. Generous amounts of residual lacing paints the glass as I partake.
S: Smells nice but not exactly what I was expecting. The first thing that comes to mind is grapes, like a grape must aroma that I am used to in sweeter wines. The more I smell it, the more used to it I become, and the orange and raspberry seem to shine through a little more. Still, I can't get the grape aroma out of my mind. Overall, it does smell fruity and sweet.
T: Really like the taste, and rather flavorful for 4.2abv. Raspberry and orange comprise the majority, with pineapple and the lemon zest on the finish with lingering flavors of raspberry and mixed citrus. I don't get much of the terpenes, but the vanilla is present every so slightly in the aftertaste. Lactose sweetness is evident but not overly done.
F: Actually think it's quite good. Medium in body but light in weight. It is smooth, creamy and really pleasant to drink. Carbonation is on the lower end of moderate but gives the right amount of elevation to the beer.
O: For what it is, I am enjoying it. I will say, for the price and size of the can, it is rather expensive, but I don't think it's fair to degrade a beer because of the price point. Price aside, I think it tastes great. Would I have preferred 16oz format or heck, even 12? Of course, but I have no clue what the price would be. It's a novelty beer, and one that both my wife and I are enjoying. Tons of flavor for 4.2 abv, and something I would revisit. I am very glad to be able to try. Cheers!
