really impressed with this beer, and with alesong in general here in the early going. this is neat on a number of levels. for one, the strength is creepy, like, it drinks so light and easy and soft, a sneaky potency to this, look out! better yet share it. another thing thats neat about it is how delicate the base beer really is, the gin barrels thus flavor this more than they usually do, and i think thats a cool feature with a funky saison yeast strain like this one. i have not yet had the base beer not in the barrels, but i can imagine it would be quite a bit more mellow overall than this one. the hop aspect isnt particularly aggressive here, i expected a big juicy new world dry hopping, but its more of a subtle euro tasting grassy earthy bitterness, i really do get as much botanical pep from the juniper in the gin as i do from the hops, they go together well though. carbontion is high and the bubbles are tiny, it gives it a pillow soft feel. more gin itself than wood, which i think helps keep it tasting fresh and lively, not too smooth and mature or anything. complex beer here thats unique in a lot of ways. i hope we continue to see the alesong beers come to colorado despite the festival season being behind us now. the whole portfolio has been special so far.
