i love everything these guys make for the most part, so to call this one of, if not their very best, is really a high compliment, but its exceptionally good beer, one of the greatest i have had from them to date, stoked to find it on tap too! a gorgeous maroon color in the glass, a little hazy and without a whole lot of head amassing either, but the color is saturated and dense and blood red and its very inviting. i get a ton of lambic funk on the nose, more wild and mature than i am used to generally from these guys, tart and funky, mouthwatering, with some tannins and pucker from the grapes too, and lots of oak. i didnt know this was so strong, its well hidden in aroma and flavor, but it does serve to bring out the fruit really nicely i think, like it might not come through as much in a lesser beer, it seems to really enhance the fruit. the richness of the fruit is amazing, like i actually have the grapes and the wine their yield in my mouth at the same time as this strong woody lambic, its incredibly complex and fruit forward. thick texture is awesome, but it also has good carbonation and keeps moving on the palate. never too sour, a little iodine and oak tannic thing happening there giving it an old world charm, and a very mature yeast profile. easily the best of these terroir beers i have had so far. epic really, ill have to track a bottle down...
