Being that it IS the winter release, of course we have a couple of wintry beers! Koffie is a new addition to the Alesong lineup and, as you might guess from our creative name, an homage to two of our favorite things - Belgian beers and coffee! Our Belgian dark strong-inspired base beer was matured in freshly-emptied Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for nearly a year and then finished on whole, locally-roasted coffee beans. The resulting aromas and flavors of rich, roasty, coffee balance with notes of fig, brown sugar, and oak-induced vanilla and are sure to warm your soul on a wintry day, just like a good cup of coffee.

500ml bottle from Tavour. Dark brown pour with an airy beige head. Aroma leads with light coffee notes, chocolate, pit fruit notes. Taste follows with a nice subtle bitter coffe flavor, sweet chocolate and plums. Mellow, rich.

Opaque dark brown with a tan head. Aromatic bourbon, molasses, dark malts and coffee in the nose. Taste has the good malt work with smooth warm barrel but the coffee comes across as grounds floating in, honestly distracts from the nice strong dark ale underneath, caramel notes round out nicely though. Feel is thinner for style, malty and earthy with good warmth. Just not one I need to have a whole glass of, but could definitely see others loving it

Fine appearance; dark brown body; one-finger thick head, khaki colored and semi-creamy texture. Good nose; light caramel and cocoa; deeply toasted malt. Sweet, roasted grain taste; vanilla and milk chocolate; low-key whiskey note in the background. Heavy body; smooth and silky; firm alcohol warmth undercuts the residual sugars; sticky.
The first impression seemed a little lackluster, but the beer vastly improved as it opened up. The flavors and mouthfeel grew and left a more lasting impression as the beer gently warmed. The coffee presence isn't overly strong and balances nicely with the base beer and the Heaven Hill barrel aging. Excellent complexity and nuance.
Pouring temperature: 52.4 ℉; bottling info: Vintage 2022; CASES PRODUCED: 180
