Inspired by Mexican hot chocolate, this bourbon barrel-aged stout oozes with rich cocoa and spicy cinnamon aromas with background notes of sweet vanilla.
Senor Rhino also has a surprise on the finish with a hint of heat from the roasted ancho chilies that provide the perfect complement to the full-bodied decadent flavors.
Vintage: 2022 Cases produced: 340 Microbes: Saccharomyces Barrels:Heaven Hill Bourbon. Special ingredients: ancho chile, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, and vanilla beans

Many thx to muchloveforhops3 for this bottle!
A - Pitch black pour with a moderately dense, creamy burnt toffee colored lacing ring.
S - Chile spice, cinnamon, Bourbon, a little bit of vanilla, toasted cocoa, all perfectly blended.
T - Really nice, toasted cocoa malt base along with cinnamon, vanilla, Bourbon, and some spicy chiles while ending nicely blended and lingering on the palate.
M - Thick, viscous, and silky while leaving a light sticky residue on the lips.
O - This is a fantastic beer.

Senor Rhino – from Alesong Brewing and Blending. Received from @snaotheus in a ninja strike during BSBIF#1. Reviewed 01/02/24 (Review 3237). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Printed on back label of the 500 mL bottle “Vintage 2022”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 54.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 59.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, light penetrates at the edges – ruby.
Head - Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), caramel, high density with a few rocks, slightly fizzy, short retention, leaving neither crown nor cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.5 – Sweet, weak chocolate and bourbon. No yeast, no hops, no malt, no peppers, no spices, no alcohol (12.5 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly sweet with bourbon and chocolate. No yeast, no hops, no roasted malt. Distinctly, neither cinnamon nor vanilla. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No ethanol. A mild gastric warming seems greater than expected from the ABV – peppers at work!
Palate – 4 – Medium; weakly syrupy; lively non-aggressive carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 Although I can’t detect cinnamon (my favorite spice), this is a quite good version of a Mexican hot chocolate – the bourbon comes through although the barrels are absent, but bourbon and barrels are a bonus in a Mexican-style hot chocolate stout.
