poured 473ml can into a pint glass. A one finger bubbly white head on a clear dark gold. The head soon diminished to a thin layer. Some patchy lacing.

Fruity caramel malts in the nose. The taste is caramel malts followed by an earth, moderately bitter hop finish.

Medium body and carbonation. Overall a solid, quality Pale Ale. It leans towards the English pale Ale style and is well worth a try.

I was pleasantly surprised; bread almost toasty malt aroma with floral almost earthy hops. None of that citrusy American hop character. Malt in the flavour and hop-forward. A great Pale Ale.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. No date stamp or lot number. My sixth beer from the Beamsville, Ontario brewery, and fourth for 2025. With Gracie the cat...

Pours a nice dark gold color. Not too much of a foam head. A bit of a malty aroma.

Taste is malty and a little sweet. Low bitterness. Easy to drink if you like malty beers.
It's an ok one but nothing I would go out of my way to buy again.

Just ok.

I just bought 2 cans 473ml at 5.2% just changed to 5% now because I am re review this beer and editing this review
Poured into glass with a 1 finger head leaving a light lace as you drink it.
The new batch is a little different not like before.
I think the older batch was better but anyways I am drinking it again and the taste and smell is off not much of a ripple effect anymore.
Cheers

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. Canned February 21, 2024. LCBO purchase for around $3.60 CDN per can.

Appearance - Golden brew with some amber hues. A finger plus of foamy off-white head poured and stays awhile. Pretty clear with lots of bubbles.

Smell - Bread and biscuit aromas, some fruit namely apple with a touch of plum and some layering of black tea in the aroma.

Taste - More biscuity malt, low sweetness with some fruity bitterness, again elements of tea with a rich earthiness.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, average carbonation for the style, easy sipper.

Overall - Definitely more of an English inspired ale with lower hop flavors, more bready malts and a good well-rounded flavor, Ripple Effect is a nice addition to Bench's growing lineup and sure to please most BA's able to give this a try.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Feb 21 2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a crystal clear golden-amber colour, producing an inch of soapy, foamy white head that recedes over the next three minutes or so. A frothy collar remains, with a quarter-inch band of lacing hanging above - looks great in the glass. Bready, biscuity malts and a slight honeyed sweetness on the nose, with hints of earl grey tea and leafy, floral hops.

A mellow ale that seems to have been inspired, at least partially, by English pale ales and/or bitters. The malt profile is bready and doughy, featuring some lightly caramelized sugars; the hops gain steam later in the sip, offering up a hint of orange peel alongside some earthy, herbal hops and tea leafy bitterness at the finish; citrus, leafy hops & metallicity in the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with low-ish carbonation that softly agitates the tongue, contributing to its smooth mouthfeel.

Another tallboy, coded Dec 11 2025. I'm only revisiting this one for posterity; I don't feel the need to alter my review.

Bench's Ripple Effect is actually a nice change from the hazy pale ales that have come to dominate this style in the past several years. The malts are robust, but the hop profile is fairly conservative - I think they synergize nicely, but beer geeks who were hoping for something 'fruity' or 'juicy' may find themselves unenthused with this decidedly more traditional pale ale. Worth a try - this is one of those brews that I'd drink again if I were in the mood for a balanced pale ale, but wouldn't bother going out of my way for.

Final Grade: 3.73, a B grade.
